Most people encounter chickens as food and rarely think about them as individuals. But every chicken has a life that matters to them.

Chickens are intelligent, curious, social animals with distinct personalities, relationships, and preferences. They learn, remember, communicate, and experience the world in their own ways. Given the chance, they forage, explore, dustbathe, bask in the sun, and form friendships.

Billions of chickens are raised and killed for food each year in the U.S., in conditions that severely restrict movement and that deny relationships and natural behaviors. Seen as food rather than individuals, they remain largely invisible to most people.

Tiny But Mighty is a chicken sanctuary coming soon to Montgomery County, Maryland, where chickens can live safely, make choices, and simply be themselves.

By sharing their lives and personalities, we hope to help people see chickens differently: not as things, but as individuals.

A sanctuary may be small.
